INDIANAPOLIS — On Saturday, May 3, the historic Meeting House (built 1871) will be open to visitors from 1 to 4 p.m. There will also be instructional guided tours of the Big Run Cemetery across the street. The Meeting House is located at 6510 S. Franklin Rd.
In keeping with Indy 500 month in Indianapolis, on Sunday, May 18th the Historical Society’s Open Hours (1 to 4 p.m.) will include a display of vintage post cards about the Indianapolis 500. Joe Seiter will be present to answer questions about the collection.
An Authors Fair featuring books by Franklin Township authors and including an opportunity to meet the authors in person, will be held at the Franklin Road Library’s community room on Saturday June 7th from 1 to 4 p.m. In addition to the authors themselves and new copies of their books, there will be door prizes, refreshments, and more.
A display of antique and historic farm implements will be held inside (and outside, weather permitting) the Meeting House on Sunday, June 15th, from 1 – 4 p.m..
On Saturday July 5th there will be a display of vintage toys in the Meeting House during regular Open Hours, 1 to 4 p.m.
Additional events are planned for late summer and autumn, including an ice cream social, the annual Harvest Dinner, and the Old Fashioned Christmas. For more information about the Franklin Township Historical Society or its events, visit www.FTHS.org.
