				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>INDIANAPOLIS — City residents are invited to attend public meetings held in each Township as part of the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Planning process. The department is seeking input from residents about the amenities they want. Upcoming meetings include:<br />
• March 9 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Warren World Sports  Park,  1313 S Post Rd<br />
• March 9 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Sterrett Center, 8950 Otis Ave.<br />
• March 10 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Perry Meridian High School Library, 401 W. Meridian School Rd.<br />
• March 11 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Old City Hall, 202 N. Alabama<br />
• March 11 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Washington Park Family Center, 1330 E. 30th St.<br />
• March 11 from 6:30 p.m. at Garfield Park, Burello Family Center, 2345 Pagoda Dr.<br />
In addition to public meetings, the Consulting Team will mail a valid survey to households throughout the City, conduct interviews and focus groups with the public, assess program and facility needs and review future demographic data, trends and usage statistics.</p>

Betty and Ryan are both hard-working people who volunteer in the community, and for just this once, they are asking for something just for the two of them. • Emerson Heights will have a community meeting on Feb. 19 from 6:45-8:00 p.m. at the Wallace Street Evangelical Church, 4805 E. 10th St. This month’s meeting will be to discuss area events and concerns. East District Community Prosecutor Dirk Cushing and Mayor’s Neighborhood Liaison Paul Ross will be on hand to answer questions.<br />
• The Irvington Green Initiative’s February meeting will be on Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. at Jockamo Upper Crust at 5646 E. Washington St. The featured speaker will be Husk, a local food system which provides year-round access to local, non-GMO foods. The meetings are free to attend.<br />
• Gallery/Portraits by Casey Ross Productions will open Feb. 20 at the Grove Haus, 1001 Hosbrook (Fountain Square). Show dates are February 20th-21st at 8PM, February 22nd at 5PM (with a pay what you want discount) and the 27th- March 1st at 8PM. All shows are at Grove Haus. Tickets are $15 excluding the pay-what-you-want showing on the 22nd. Tickets are cash at the door or online at brownpapertickets.com.<br />
• Indianapolis law firm Benesch has committed $5,000 and a half-day shadowing opportunity for an area high school student interested in law. The open application period for the Benesch Raise the Bar Indiana scholarship, which involves a blog post submission, social media engagement and community involvement, begins Monday, Feb. 9. The scholarship application is housed at <a href="http://http://BeneschRaisetheBar.com" target="_blank">http://BeneschRaisetheBar.com</a>. The deadline is March 8.<br />
• Have coffee with a cop on Feb. 23 from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. at the McDonald’s at 1611 N. Meridian. This is a program offered by East District IMPD for neighbors to get to know their local police officers in a friendly, non-meeting environment.<br />
• Seems a little early, but Indy Parks is offering early-bird signups for spring programs. They have lots of Spring Break activities in the neighborhood. Visit <a href="http://www.indy.gov/funguide" target="_blank">www.indy.gov/funguide</a> or call 317-327-PARK for more information.<br />
• Three new members have been elected to the Marion County Agricultural &amp; 4H Club Fair Association board: Lydia Armstrong, Jeff Edwards, and John Gardner.<br />

Indy Parks and the Department of Public Works are seeking public input on the preliminary recommendations. Each meeting will be held as an open house from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m.<br />
Meetings will be held:<br />
• August 20 at Holliday Park, 6363 Spring Mill Rd.<br />
• August 22 at Krannert Park, 605 S. High School Rd.<br />
• August 27 at Municipal Gardens, 1831 Lafayette Rd.<br />
• August 28 at Post Road Park, 1313 S. Post Rd.<br />
• August 29 at Garfield Park Arts Center, 2432 Conservatory Dr.<br />
