IRVINGTON —The Historic Benton House invites Irvington residents to be considered for the 2013 Legacy Irvington Benton House Tour of Homes on Sunday, September 15 from noon to 5 p.m.
Each year the Benton House Association calls on local community homeowners to showcase their home for the historic tour. Without the support of the wonderful Irvington neighbors, the Benton House Tour of Homes would not be the longest consecutively run home tour in Indianapolis. Since 1974, there have been nearly 200 Irvington homes and buildings showcased on this outstanding tour.
In return, the Benton House Association will host a private pre-tour brunch for all homeowners and donors with a private tour of all the homes. Homeowners will also receive an inscribed plaque to mark the home as one of the elite homes of Irvington, historical information on the home, Benton House Association membership with regular newsletters, and other special gifts.
For 40 years, the home tour has showcased the history, charm and architecture of the Irvington neighborhood while bringing inspiration, education and home improvement ideas. The tour is the single largest fundraising event for the Benton House, raising funds for the preservation of the Irvington landmark. This year the house is celebrating its 140th birthday and the Irvington Home Tour is celebrating its 40th anniversary!
