INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Public Library Director of Information Technology Services Debra Champ has been honored with the first-ever Chief Technology Officer of the Year Award by the Indianapolis Business Journal and TechPoint. Champ was selected among other finalists in the Not-for-Profit/Government (revenue below $100 million) category.
A 13-year employee of IndyPL, Champ was cited for her direction and development of infrastructure that allows the Library to simultaneously serve over 550-thousand cardholders and track its collection of 1.8 million items. In addition to creating a long-range strategy for future technologies, Champ has led efforts to incorporate new web-based services into the Library’s offerings, such as streaming video, audiobook downloads and digital magazines. Her work also focuses on maintaining wireless capability at the Library’s 24 locations where 10,000 unique devices are used each week by patrons for online access.
