INDIANAPOLIS —The City’s latest roundabout, located at the intersection of Five Points and E. Thompson roads on the City’s southeast side, is now open to traffic. The cost of the $1.65 million roundabout project was shared, with approximately 80 percent coming from federal funds and 20 percent coming from local funds.
Based on the engineering analysis for the Five Points and Thompson roads roundabout, the average delay at peak traffic times before the roundabout was approximately 35.7 seconds. The analysis estimates that the delay at the same time will be as low as 5.4 seconds with the new roundabout in use.
Indy’s next roundabout project will begin construction later this year at the intersection of 46th Street and German Church Road.
