INDIANAPOLIS —The Harrison Center for the Arts presents its annual color-themed holiday group show, Magnificent Amber. Over 75 local artists have contributed work in a variety of media to this show, some amber-hued, some inspired by Indiana’s own Booth Tarkington’s novel, The Magnificent Ambersons. Magnificent Amber, which will hang in the Harrison Gallery and Gallery Annex, is the Harrison Center’s 13th color-themed group show.
The Harrison Center is home to 33 working artists who will welcome attendees into their studios throughout the 6 to 10 p.m. opening.
The INDIEana Handicraft Exchange’s Winter Mini takes place in the Harrison Center gymnasium from 5 to 10 p.m. with 45 vendors. The INDIEana Handicraft Exchange is a D.I.Y. contemporary craft fair that showcases the work of artists and crafters who use traditional crafting techniques mixed with a contemporary edge.
Best-selling Indiana author Dan Wakefield (Going All the Way, Starting Over, New York in the Fifties) will give a talk in four brief segments at 6:45, 7:30, 8:15 and 9:00 titled Corn, Limestone and Books: Why Hoosier Writers Sell Best.
The work hangs through December 26. The Harrison Center is located at 1505 N. Delaware.
