INDIANAPOLIS — Recently, students enrolled in the Walker Career Center Early Childhood Education (ECC) program located at the Warren Early Childhood Center presented animated puppet shows to preschoolers. Using dramatic play, the ECC students created original scripts that included multiple characters who led the preschool scholars through adventures and wonderlands. This specific form of play expands upon young children’s communication, social, emotional, cognitive, and language skills. High school student, Jericho Johnson, stated, “The children that were there participated with the stories. The last story that we did was the 3 little pigs. The puppets were so creative and fun. At the end of our story we said ‘goodbye friends’, and then the kids responded by saying goodbye.” All high school students spend the year creating lesson plans and putting them into action to create fun learning experiences for the preschool scholars.
