INDIANAPOLIS — The Heartland Film Festival kicks off its 23rd year in Indianapolis Oct. 16 with a screening of Jason Reitman’s film Men, Women & Children at the Indianapolis Museum of Art at 7 p.m. The first day of screenings at three locations will begin Oct. 17 at the AMC Castleton Square 14 (6020 E. 82nd St.), AMC Showplace Trader’s Point (5920 W. 86th St.) and the Theater at the Wheeler Arts Community (1035 Sanders St.). The awards ceremony will be held Oct. 18 at the Old National Center, and closing Night Screening and Party will be held on Oct. 25 at the Toby, at the IMA. The closing film will be Belle and Sebastian.
In partnership with the Weinstein Co., Heartland will present special screenings of two upcoming feature films: St. Vincent, starring Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy, and Naomi Watts on Oct. 19 at AMC Trader’s Point, and The Imitation Game, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley on Oct. 22 at AMC Castleton Square.
This year’s films boast the most diverse lineup ever and many Indiana connections. Prize money of more than $115,000 will be awarded for best feature, best documentary, best narrative short, plus awards for the Jimmy Stewart Memorial Crystal Heart Award and a grand prize winnter of the high school film competition.
