INDIANAPOLIS — Damien Center, Indiana’s oldest and largest HIV service organization, has launched a new Flex Program designed to make it easier for people living with HIV who are out of care or at risk of disengaging from treatment to reconnect with the medical care and support they need.
The program offers a more flexible, patient-centered approach to traditional HIV care. Flex participants have access to same-day medical appointments, walk-in support from the program’s medical social worker and ongoing incentives designed to encourage continued engagement in care. Patients are connected to the program through referrals from Damien Center providers and case managers, as well as targeted outreach to individuals who have fallen out of care.
Early results have been promising. During its first month, the Flex Program enrolled 10 patients, with staff reporting strong engagement and positive feedback from participants.
