• Folklore Mexicano Festival 2026 will take place Saturday, July 11, 12 – 4 p.m. at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair. Enjoy performances, live music, activities, Mexican food truck, mercado (shops), and informational booths.
• The Irvington Farmers Market will be held Sunday, July 12 at Ellenberger Park, 5301 E. St. Clair, from noon-3 p.m. Music, produce, artisans, and more will be there.
• Join Singer-songwriters Bill Corder, Jess Jones and Bill Price for an evening of all original music on Saturday, July 11 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. outside on the Irving Theater deck at Johnson and Ritter. If it rains, the performance will be inside the theater.
• IndyGo’s construction on the Blue Line will close E. Washington St. from State to Rural. Route 8 will be re-routed using New Jersey, New York, and Rural streets during the next few weeks. Plan accordingly.
• Good Shepherd UMC, 2015 S. Arlington Ave. will hold a church rummage sale Friday, July 17 and Saturday, July 18 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. both days. Proceeds will benefit Hope Center Indy and other local nonprofits. There will be a pre-sale for $10 admission fee on Thursday, July 16 from 5-8 p.m.
• The Big Red Box project that provides free food for our neighbors, can use extra water during these hot days. They go through cases of bottled water when the temperatures rise. Some of the boxes are in Irvington, including 30 N. Audubon (UMC), Downey Ave. Christian Church at 111 S. Downey Ave., and at Community Hospital East on the corner of 16th and Ritter. Please only donate non-perishable goods in the boxes — fresh food will spoil and cause problems.
• Indiana has broken the record for most tornadoes in a year — and it’s only July. The previous record was set in 2011, when there were 72 verified tornadoes. This year, there have been 77 verified. Our average is 22. Illinois has had 178 so far this year!
• Footlite Musicals will present Footloose, based on the movie, from July 17-26. This is their Young Artist Production, with a cast of 13-18-year-olds.The show will be at the Hedback Theatre, 1847 N. Alabama. Tickets are $27 and available online at footlite.org/buy-tickets
• Friends of Indy Animals will host a Talk with a Trainer discussion at Indianapolis Animal Care Services on Saturday, July 18 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at the new shelter, 5001 E. Raymond. Don’t bring your dog, but bring questions about behavior and training, and how to best advocate for your dog at the vet. Connie Swaim will host. Please RSVP by e-mailing iacshomeprogram@gmail.com.
• The Midwest Stamp Dealers Association will hold a Stamp Show Saturday, July 11 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, July 12 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Lawrence Community Park, 5301 N. Franklin Rd. There will be dealers in stamps, collections, supplies, and more. Admission is free.
