INDIANAPOLIS — Mayor Joe Hogsett recently joined the Indianapolis Department of Public Works (Indy DPW) and the Indianapolis City-County Council to discuss major right-of-way construction projects for the 2026 season. Indy DPW’s 2026 capital infrastructure budget calls for $279 million in investments to roads, sidewalks, trails, bridges and stormwater infrastructure.
This year’s projects build upon Indy DPW’s ongoing work to maintain and improve roadways, bolster connectivity between neighborhoods, and create safe mobility for all road users.
In 2026, Indy’s roads will see approximately $218 million in transportation improvements. Additionally, approximately $62 million stormwater improvements will help prevent flooding and allow for longer-lasting roadways.
Projects expected to begin and/or continue construction on the east side in 2026 include:
• Grassy Creek Greenway
• Pleasant Run Greenway
• Fountain Square Drainage Improvements
• Union Station Bridge Rehabilitation
• Near Eastside Streetscape at 10th & Rural
