Indiana Artisan Marketplace Showcases Local, Statewide Creativity

INDIANAPOLIS — From mosaics and marshmallows to watercolors and wines, the Indiana Artisan Marketplace features handmade work, juried and recognized as the best in Indiana, by nearly 150 artisans. The 2014 Indiana Artisan Marketplace will launch the state’s 2014 art season March 29 and 30 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Expo Hall. More than 100 artisans from Indiana again will be joined by an additional 50 from Kentucky to showcase art and food selected as the best by Indiana Artisan and Kentucky Crafted food and art jury panels.
New this year: 20 art and food artisans will demonstrate the creation of their work — potters throwing, painters painting, weavers weaving, and some exciting looks at candy making are just a glimpse of what’s in store when the state’s high-quality artisans come together again for this event.  Five artisans — painter Douglas David, chocolatier Jayne Hoadley, fiber artist Sylvia Gray, and Mark Cox and Josh Henson of Fermenti Artisan — will demonstrate their work all weekend long in the center of the Exposition Hall.
Also new, Aurora-based Great Crescent Brewing Company, which recently had two beers recognized by Indiana Artisan, will sample and sell three of its craft brews. All food artisans again will offer samples of their candies, wines, chocolates, noodles, pretzels, jams, and more.
