INDIANAPOLIS – At the Eiteljorg Museum, discover the artistry and cultural heritage of Inuit artists in Voices from the Arctic: Contemporary Inuit Art, an exhibition showcasing sculptures, prints, and drawings from the 1960s to today. Featuring works from the Eiteljorg’s permanent collection and select loans from prominent collectors, this compelling exhibition offers a rare opportunity to explore the creative expressions and profound stories of Inuit communities from Canada’s far north. The exhibit will open on Saturday, Feb. 22. The museum is located at 500 W. Washington St. and is open Mon.-Sat. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sun. from noon- 5 p.m.
Through this collection, visitors will experience the evolution of Inuit art, from traditional depictions of hunting, dogsledding, and spiritual narratives to contemporary reflections on technology, changing lifestyles, and the pressing impacts of climate change. These works not only celebrate the ingenuity and resilience of Inuit artists but also shed light on their intimate connection to the land and their role as witnesses to the dramatic environmental changes affecting not only the Arctic, but the world.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $16 for seniors 65+, and $12 for youth 5-17 years. Order tickets in advance at eiteljorg.org. The campus is cashless, so only credit/debit cards, googlepay and applepay are accepted throughout the building, including theh gift store.
