INDIANAPOLIS — The Eiteljorg Museum has two special exhibitions open this month in connection with Día de Muertos:
• From now through Nov. 19, the museum is hosting an exhibition by Vincennes, Indiana-based artist Fernando Lozano, We Remember / Nostotros Recordamos, that reflects upon the lives lost during the COVID-19 pandemic to date in all 50 states and U.S. territories. It is included with regular museum admission.
• From now through Nov. 3, the museum and its partners will host a Community Altar and Ofrenda Exhibit. Community groups create ofrendas, or altars, in honor of loved ones who have passed. This exhibit has free admission.
Looking ahead, the 14th annual Fifth Third Bank Jingle Rails: The Great Western Adventure returns to the Eiteljorg on Nov. 18 and continues through Jan. 15. The annual holiday tradition features model trains rambling across backdrops representing the skyline of downtown Indianapolis and the landmarks of the American West, and the whimsical train backdrops are made of all-natural materials, such as pine cones, acorns, seed pods and tree roots.
This year, so more families can attend the holiday model train display, Jingle Rails will be open extended hours, until 7 p.m., on eight dates between Dec. 16 and Dec. 30. Jingle Rails is included with regular museum admission, and children ages 4 and under are free. Indiana college students with college/university ID also have free admission.
