From The Indianapolis Star, Monday, December 1, 1913: The new Irvington photo-play house at Washington St and Johnson Av will open Wednesday night. The one-story brick structure was erected by the Guthrie-Thompson Co for the Idle Hour Amusement Co at a cost of nearly $15,000. The house is modern with seating for 525 persons, and is fitted with every appliance to make a perfect picture. H. L. Whitehead will operate the theater as a 10-cent house and will show films from the General Film Company. The house has not been officially named, but the citizens of Irvington will be asked to submit names to a committee composed of Judge Charles J. Orbison, Butler College Professor James W. Putnam and Charles M. Cross, who will select a suitable name. Among the first films will be Antony & Cleopatra.
