• Congratulations to Charles Miller, who was recently appointed as judge in the Marion County Superior Court. Miller is a very active advocate for Irvington, serving on the Historic Irvington Community Council and the Irvington Garden Club, amongst his many accomplishments. He replaces the Honorable Stephen R. Eichholtz, who retired last year.
• Author David P. Barker will be on hand to discuss his ongoing Western series about Sheriff James McShea at the Irvington Branch Library on April 10 from 6:45-7:45 p.m. He’ll talk about his work, and what it’s like to get published. A book signing will follow the presentation. The library is located at 5625 E. Washington St.
• The Indiana Repertory Theater concludes its 50th season with the murder mystery/comedy Clue beginning April 19-May 20. Tickets to this production are going fast, so visit irtlive.com or call 317-635-5252 as soon as possible to get a seat.
• Broad Ripple will host the Spring Art Walk on World Art Day, Saturday, April 15 from 1-4 p.m. This is a self-guided tour of businesses and art exhibits throughout the Village. Visit www.broadrippleindy.org for more information about the walk and other events.
• The Indianapolis Public Library will have a book sale April 14-18. Hardbacks are $3, paperbacks $1, and special pricing on children’s books, DVDs, and more. The sale will be held at the Library Services Center, 2450 N. Meridian St. Friday is Friends Day from 4:30-7:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday 1/2 Price Day from noon-7 p.m., and Tuesday $8 per bag day from noon-7 p.m. Get there early for the best selection.
• The month of April will feature glass at the Hancock County Arts Center, 20 W. North St. in Greenfield. Stained glass, glass paintings, beads — you name it. There will be a reception on Second Friday, April 14 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
• Indianapolis Mariachi & Folklore Festival will be held Saturday, April 8 from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair St. Drop by for a day celebrating mariachi music and traditional dancing from Mexico. Enjoy the community mercado with local vendors and learn what local organizations have to offer. There will also be a food truck outside! This is a free family event.
