INDIANAPOLIS — Storytelling Arts of Indiana kicks off its 35th season with a celebration of family, culture, and diversity. Tickets are now on sale for “From Affrilachia to South America: Stories from our Culture and Community” on Saturday, September 24. Artists Carolina Quiroga and Lyn Ford will share the stage, as well as the stories of their heritages and hearts. These are the “family stories” of their communities and cultures, from Cali, Colombia to the mountains of what’s called “Affrilachia.” Kentucky poet Frank X. Walker coined the term “Affrilachian” to give a name to his unique experience as a Black Appalachian.
The show will be held Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. online via Zoom and in person at Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, 450 W, Ohio St. Tickets are $20 for an individual online or in person, $35 for a household to watch online and can be purchased online at Storytellingarts.org.
