INDIANAPOLIS — The Center for Black Literature & Culture’s 5th Annual Indy Book Fest and Juneteenth Celebration will offer a glimpse of the African-American experience through arts, literature, and storytelling on June 18 at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair. from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m.
The CBLC has partnered with the YMCA’s Monster Meeting to welcome, via video, Professor Annette Gordon-Reed, author of The Hemingses of Monticello: an American Family, and On Juneteenth. She has won a Pulitzer for her extensive writings on the history of Black Americans and the impacts on current day issues. After her presentation at 12:30, there will be a breakout discussion about the pre-recorded conversation.
Lots of events for the whole family will be offered, including a book fair, poetry workshops, and DJs.
The library and its branches will be close Sunday, June 19 and Monday, June 20 except for the InfoZone at the Children’s Museum.
