INDIANAPOLIS — A popular summer series returns to downtown Indianapolis. The Indiana Historical Society (IHS) invites guests to the 2022 Concerts on the Canal season along with Free Admission Thursdays, June 2 through July 14.
All Concerts on the Canal performances are from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, located at 450 W. Ohio St. in downtown Indianapolis.
The 2022 lineup includes: Touch of Grass – Bluegrass (6/2), Doug Henthorn and the LLC – Classic Rock/Blues (6/9), 45 RPM – British Invasion Rock n’ Roll (6/16), and several local jazz performers throughout July.
Guests can purchase seating on the History Center’s Kruse Family Stardust Terrace in tables of eight ($80/$60 IHS members) or tables of four ($60/$40 IHS members). The Terrace is a smoke-free and pet-free zone. No seating will be permitted along the History Center entryways or the Terrace stairways. Free seating may be available outside the Terrace area.
In the event of inclement weather, the concert may be delayed or moved indoors to the Frank and Katrina Basile Theatre.
Food and cash bar service will be available from the Stardust Terrace Café by Jonathan Byrd’s — open at 5 p.m. Guests may also bring their own food and nonalcoholic beverages to the concerts. All alcohol must be purchased and consumed on site. No food or drink will be allowed at indoor concerts, and only registered guests may be accommodated.
Free parking at the History Center is on a first-come basis. Nearby street or garage parking is available for a fee. These procedures may be changed as a result of updated guidance from local government and health officials.
For reservations, contact the Welcome Center at (317) 232-1882 or www.indianahistory.org/visit/calendar.
In addition, volunteers are needed for Concerts on the Canal from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. to assist with concert setup and tear down and to answer basic visitor questions. Anyone interested should call (317) 233-3902 or contact Toni Shipp at volunteers@indianahistory.org.
The History Center is free on Thursdays during concert season and open until 6 p.m. Free admission will also be offered on July 2, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in observance of Independence Day. For more information about IHS, go to www.indianahistory.org.
