LAWRENCE — Lawrence Utilities recently got word that they will receive a grant for over $2 million, which they will match with ARP funds. The General Assembly allocated $100 million in federal funds to grants for Indiana utilities for drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater projects.
The Lawrence Utility Board approved the award of the project that will make improvements in the sanitary sewers in the older part of the city, west of Post Rd. The project will involve sewer mains, manholes and lateral improvements.
About $20 million has been invested into the water utility since 2017 to replace and upgrade water treatment plants, water storage facilities and water main replacements.
