• The Irvington Historical Society’s Holiday Market will be held Friday, Nov. 19 from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 20 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Artists, artisans, and crafters will sell their wares, plus there will be several authors selling and signing their books, vintage collectibles for sale. • The last Poetry Gathering for Arts for Lawrence and The Poets Laureate of Lawrence for 2021 will be held at the newly renovated Theater at the Fort, 8920 Otis Ave. on Nov. 23 from7:30-9:30 p.m. This month will celebrate Poetry of Thanksgiving and Compassion – instead of a featured poet, everyone will be sharing poems (yours or favorite authors) that honor themes of compassion and thanksgiving. Please bring face masks to protect each other.
• Peewinkle’s Christmas Puppet Show will be at the Theater at the Fort on Saturday, Dec. 4 for two shows: 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Call 317-875-1900 to reserve tickets now.
• The City of Lawrence hosts Winterfest beginning on Nov. 20 and continuing through Dec. 30 at the Lawrence Civic Plaza, located at 5720 Lawrence Village Parkway. There will be a skating rink, a Christmas parade later in the year, a winter solstice walk, a winter farmers market, and much more going on.
• A Three Woman Art Exhibit: Getting Something Down will open on Saturday, Nov. 20 from 6-10 p.m. at the Storefront Theatre, 717 Broad Ripple Ave. The exhibit features the work of Mary Mindiola, Mirvia Sol Eckert, and Rebecca Robinson, Indianapolis artists.
• Indy Reads will host a Read-A-Thon of A Christmas Carol on Sunday, Nov. 28 from 6-9 p.m. This virtual reaing includes Indy Reads’ adult students, staff, local writers, and other participants. Attend the ticketed event or donate a reading slot via sponsorship to support Indy Reads’ adult literacy efforts in Indianapolis. Tickets are $15 and up to sponsor volunteers and students. • On Saturday, Nov. 20 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 21 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., there will be an Autumn Art Fair at Garfield Park Arts Center. About 40 local artists will be on hand. Garfield Park is located at 2432 Conservatory Dr.
• All BMV branches will be closed from Thursday, Nov. 25 through Saturday, Nov. 27 to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.
• The Indianapolis Public Library will be closed from 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24 through Thanksgiving. They will reopen for regular hours on Friday, Nov. 26.
