INDIANAPOLIS — The third round of funding for the Music Cities Strategy Recovery Program was recently announced. The grant program is directed at independent music venues experiencing negative economic consequences from the COVID-19 pandemic. Applications are available at musicalfamilytree.org/blog and will be due by August 27, 2021.
The $250,000 extension of the program is made available by the City through funding from the American Rescue Plan, an allocation approved by the City-County Council earlier this summer. The program will be administered by Musical Family Tree, Inc., and is made possible in part through the Arts Council of Indianapolis. Last year, the City and MFT awarded over $336,000 to 37 grantees between the first two rounds of the Music Cities Strategy Recovery Program.
The program is open to independent music venues located within Marion County. Grants are to be used for overhead costs, which may include monthly rent or mortgage payments, utility payments, and other eligible reimbursable expenses, if incurred or paid between March 3, 2021 and August 15, 2020. Venues may apply for a grant of up to $20,000 by providing documentation of paid rent/mortgage, utilities expenses, and other eligible reimbursable expense from the previously mentioned period.
