INDIANAPOLIS — Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation, Indy Hunger Network, and the City of Indianapolis made key changes to Community Compass, a multi-platform tool that allows users to easily navigate available food resources to significantly reduce food insecurity in our communities.
Community Compass is now available as a web platform at www.communitycompass.app in addition to the existing free mobile app and via any mobile phone by texting the word “hi” to 317-434-3758. The resources Community Compass offers are also now available in multiple languages.
Community Compass addresses immediate food needs, such as where and how to access free groceries, but it also helps users navigate the federal food assistance process. Currently, over 14,000 Marion County residents use Community Compass to find nearby food pantries, meal sites, SNAP and WIC retailers, WIC clinics, and food-related events, as well as to be screened for federal nutrition program eligibility.
Later this year, Community Compass’ platform will also include additional resources such as energy and housing assistance information.
