INDIANAPOLIS — Growing Places Indy is launching Plant It Forward, a program that will give residents a head start to creating home and community gardens. Applications will be taken in February for the spring planting season.
Participants will receive all the resources they need to start a vegetable garden, including small tools, seeds, locally grown transplants, and access to hands-on workshops. Topics such as seed starting, container gardens, pest control, soil improvement, and cooking with your produce may be covered in the workshops. The program is open to all Indianapolis residents.
The program is designed to help Indianapolis residents gain access to quality food. The program is open to individuals, churches, organizations, and schools.
Growing Places is located at 727 Oriental Ave. and they organize the Indy Winter Farmers Market on Saturdays at 1125 E. Brookside Ave.
