Indy Car News

Popular Canadian IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe who split time between being a driver and being a race commentator in 2000 has secured a full time ride for the series in 2021 with Andretti Auto Sports. Hinch will be driving the #29 Dallara Honda for the team. The 34-year-old drove for Andretti from 2012 to 2014. Hinch has 6 career wins and 17 podium finishes. At this point in time Marco Andretti is scheduled to drive only in the Indy 500 in the Andretti-Agajanian-Curb #98 Dallara Honda.
Swiss driver Simona de Silvestro will return to the Indy 500, after a 5 year absence in 2021. The 32-year-old was the Indy 500 Rookie of the Year in 2010. Her best IndyCar finish was a second in Houston in 2013. She will compete for Paretta Autosports in a Dallara Chevy prepared and engineered by Penske Racing. Good to see her back.
The 2019 Indy 500 Rookie of the Year Santino Ferrucci has left the IndyCar series to compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The 22-year-old from Woodberry, Connecticut will pilot the #26 Toyota Supra for Sam Hunt Racing in a 20 race schedule.
Frenchman Sebastien Bourdais has joined A J Foyt Racing for the full series in 2021. The 41-year-old drove for Foyt in 3 races including the Indy 500. Bourdais has 6 wins and 13 podiums in the IndyCar Series.
The first race of the 2021 IndyCar season will be the Honda Grand Prix of Alabama presented by AmFirst at the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham on April 18.
Only Dale Coyne Racing has yet to name its drivers for 2021. The team is said to be in negotiations with several likely prospects.

Super Bowl Weekend
In what has been the strangest year in sports history, the NFL Super Bowl will finally take place. But the COVID-19 epidemic has certainly caused the event to lose a whole lot of its luster. I can’t say that I am very excited about it. I’ll watch it but with no more enthusiasm than I
have watched  any other game this season. However, I will make a prediction as to the final outcome. The Chiefs take the Bucs 31-27 and retain the Lombardi Trophy.
