INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA, Indiana Sports Corp and the state of Indiana launched the statewide Mask Madness program on Monday, Jan. 25. More than 100,000 March Madness masks will be distributed across Indiana cities starting this month through Final Four weekend. NCAA Divisions I, II, III schools, city visitor bureaus, community partners, and Indianapolis public spaces will serve as distribution locations.
In Indianapolis, you can get a mask at City Market, 222 E. Market St. during business hours (7 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays); Indianapolis Artsgarden, 110 W. Washington St.; Julia Carson Transit Center, 201 E. Washington St. (masks also available on various IndyGo buses). The masks are free.
The Mask Madness initiative will promote health and safety throughout Indiana amid the COVID-19 pandemic by advocating social distancing and wearing a mask. Hoosiers will be encouraged to wear the masks and share through social media “why they mask up” by using the hashtag #MaskMadness.
The 2021 tournament will be the 82nd NCAA Division I men’s basketball championship, and the first to be conducted exclusively in one state. With the Division II men’s basketball championship scheduled to be played in Evansville, and the Division III men’s basketball championship scheduled to be conducted in Fort Wayne, this will be a March Madness unlike any other for the state of Indiana.
