CUMBERLAND — How are artists responding to the surreal world of the COVID-19 pandemic? What does art say about this unprecedented moment in history? See examples of the artist observation at the free “Arts as Defiance in a Time of Pandemic” Competition and Gallery Showcase, Sept. 9, 10 and 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 11706 E. Washington St. in Cumberland. The competition is sponsored by Cumberland Arts, Inc.
Social health protocols will be enforced such as mask wearing, safe distancing and a planned pathway through display. Please make a free reservation so that the crowd can be limited to a safe and comfortable number. The gallery will be in The Historic Buckley House owned by Town Hendryx of Hendryx Mortuaries.
People can also view the art on the Cumberland Arts Facebook, which will be updated to showcase the art with photos and videos. Award winners will be posted on Facebook.
