• The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) made two announcements regarding consumer utilities on Monday, June 29. The IURC is denying the recent joint request to allow for-profit utilities to increase rates to make up for coronavirus-related revenue decrease. The IURC is extending the utility cut-off moratorium until August 14. That will give Hoosiers some extra time to come up with utility payments they may have missed due to the pandemic.
• All Indianapolis Public Library branches will be closed on Saturday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Branch locations that observe Sunday hours will reopen at noon on Sunday, July 5, and all locations will reopen at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 6. The BMV branches open Monday through Friday or on a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule will be closed on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4.
• The Food in Transit program has begun, with fresh, affordable and locally grown produce available on Wednesdays from 2-5 p.m. at the Julia Carson Transit Center, 201 E. Washington St. Vegetables will be pre-bundled and sold for $5 or $10. Cash, SNAP, EBT, and credit/debit card payments will be accepted.
