INDIANAPOLIS — Jiffy Lube of Indiana recently announced that six central Indiana artists have been selected to expand the company’s “Every Part Matters” public art project in 2020. The selected artists were chosen from a record pool of 123 applicants to add seven new murals across the state, including two in northeastern Indiana and five in central Indiana.
What started as a way to cover up graffiti at a local store five years ago, the Every Part Matters project has since grown into a successful, ongoing partnership with the Arts Council of Indianapolis. In addition to supporting and hiring local artists, Jiffy Lube of Indiana also created a new apprentice program that will give paid experience to emerging artists. Providing young artists with these opportunities aligns with Jiffy Lube’s mission of “Growing People Through Work.”
The 2020 “Every Part Matters” mural artists and locations in central Indiana include:
• Joy Hernandez, who will be working at the Jiffy Lube store in Broad Ripple, located at 6401 N College Ave.
• Dan Handskillz (aka Dan Thompson) who will be working at the Eastgate Jiffy Lube store on 355 N. Shadeland Ave.
• Artur Silva who will be working at the Jiffy Lube store in Westfield, located at 840 E 151st St. Apprentice muralist Shaunte Lewis will be working with Silva.
• Nekoda (Koda) Witsken who will be working at the Carmel/Zionsville Jiffy Lube store at 10390 N. Michigan Rd.
• Carl Leck, a repeat participant, will be working at the brand-new Jiffy Lube store location in Fishers, located at 13855 Olivia Way.
Two more Indiana-based artists, Bryan Ballinger and Alexandra Hall, will be completing murals in Kendallville and Fort Wayne respectively.
