INDIANAPOLIS — The second annual Indianapolis Thriving Schools Challenge (ITSC) award winners were recently acknowledged at the Indiana State Museum. Many school teams were awarded with funding for a project submission, and each school was recognized for its efforts to advance sustainability education.
Sustainability efforts included recycling bins, school garens, a chicken coop and other student-inspired projects. There were 28 applications from area schools, and 20 were awarded project funding up to $5,000.
Schools that were awarded funding include the Center for Inquiry #84, Crooked Creek Elementary, Montessori School #56, Julian School #57, Herron High School, Perry Meridian High School, SENSE Charter School, and Tindley Summit Academy.
Of the schools that were awarded funding, 10 were public schools, five were private schools and five were charter schools. More than 14,000 students will be impacted by investments made in 2020.
