East 16th Closed to Through Traffic Until Nov. 2019
INDIANAPOLIS — As part of Citizens Energy Group’s $2 billion DigIndy Tunnel Project, East 16th St. will be closed at Bosart Ave. and residents will experience lane closures and detours until November 29, weather permitting.
Multiple intersections between Sherman and Emerson within the Little Flower and Otterbein neighborhoods will be impacted by closures by large sewer construction. Detour routes will be clearly posted. Local access to homes and businesses will remain open.

Summer Lovin’ Adoptions at IACS
INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) is running a Summer Lovin’ adoption promotion. Animal adoptions will be free through June 22. Adoptions include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, and heartworm testing. As the shelter continues to run at capacity, IACS need to find loving forever homes for animals in their care.

Shelter adoption hours are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.. The shelter is closed on Wednesday.
Oriental Ave. Street Closure June 17
INDIANAPOLIS—The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) recently announced the detour route and timeline for the upcoming closure of Oriental Street over Pogue’s Run. Signs will soon alert motorists to the upcoming closure, planned for June 17, and expected to continue through August 2.
The signed detour route will direct northbound motorists to use Highland Street and southbound motorists to use Dorman Street.
DPW Project BM-25-180 bridge improvements will include the removal of deteriorated concrete along Oriental Street, the rehabilitation of the bridge deck, upgrades to the street approaches on either side of the bridge structure as well as repairs to existing sidewalks as needed.
Food in Transit Returns June 7
INDIANAPOLIS — After a successful pilot in fall 2018, Food in Transit returns on June 7, providing fresh and affordable produce to current and future transit riders.
The farm stand and locally-grown produce is provided by Growing Places Indy and is made possible by the Department of Metropolitan Development’s Community Block Development Grant (CDBG) funding through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Food in Transit is available every Friday between June 7 and the end of October, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Julia M. Carson Transit Center.
Food items vary each week depending on availability and veggie bunches range in price between $1 to $3. Cash, EBT, credit and debit are all accepted forms of payment, and Growing Places Indy team members will be at each farm stand to answer questions about the produce and help with recipe suggestions.
