A war hero, a pioneering Indianapolis Public Schools student turned lawyer, an accomplished education and business leader, a successful local editor and a gifted entrepreneur represent the Indianapolis Public Schools Education Foundation IPS Alumni Hall of Fame Class of 2013.
This year’s inductees include:
• Marvin Bailey, Arlington High School Class of 1965
• Venita Moore, Arlington High School Class of 1973
• James E. O’Donnell (posthumous), Arsenal Technical High School Class of 1938
• Deborah Paul, Broad Ripple High School Class of 1965
• Fletcher “Flash” Wiley, Shortridge High School Class of 1960
Bailey is a business, education and civic leader who had careers with AT&T and Harrison College and was very active with educational opportunities for area youth. Moore is a state government veteran who ventured into entrepreneurship with the establishment of the management consulting firm Engaging Solutions, LLC. A retired Indianapolis firefighter who passed away earlier this year, O’Donnell was the only man from Indianapolis to survive when the USS Indianapolis was torpedoed in the Pacific Ocean during World War II. Paul is the retired editor of Indianapolis Monthly magazine, where she still writes a column. A U.S. Air Force veteran, Wiley is an attorney practicing in the Boston area.
These community and civic leaders will be honored at the Alumni Hall of Fame Luncheon on Oct. 1, 2013 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.
