• The Christian Park Neighborhood will have a KIBI sponsored community cleanup on Sat., Oct. 13 from 8-11 a.m. Meet at the Christian Park Family Center, 4200 E. English Ave. KIBI will supply trash bags, gloves, and tools.
• Near East Area Development (NEAR) and Robson-Voorhees Neighborhood Association will give a presentation on the Sherman Park redevelopment plan on Mon., Oct. 8, at 1 p.m. The presentation is hosted by Mechanical Skills, Inc., 3535 E. Michigan St,, across the street from the project site. All are welcome to find out what is in the works for this important eastside development project.
• All Indianapolis Public Library locations will be closed on Mon., Oct. 8 for the annual Staff In-Service Day. All locations will reopen at their regular times on Tues., Oct. 9.
• First Friday Swing Dance at the Fort is a great way to meet people and get exercise. Join in on Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. at the Theatre at the Fort, 8920 Otis Ave. in Lawrence. Nondancers are welcome. General admission is $10 per person, with $2 extra if you get there an hour early for a lesson. Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra provides the music. • On Thurs., Oct. 4, the Warren Central Choirs will present their Fall Choral Concert, with performances by Bella Note, Boys of Harmony, Chamber Singers, Connection, Fermatas, Hi-Lites, and Spirit at the Warren Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for students. Children 8th grade and under are admitted free.
• The Indianapolis Public Library will offer Ask-a-Lawyer at certain locations on Tues., Oct. 9 from noon-4 p.m. Adults can receive free legal advice through one-on-one consultations with qualified, licensed attorneys who are members of the Indianapolis Bar Association. For those unable to attend, call 269-2000 between 12 noon – 8 p.m. to speak with an attorney. Locations participating in the program include the Brightwood Branch, 2435 N. Sherman Dr.; Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair; College Avenue, 4180 N. College Ave.; East 38th St., 5420 E. 38th St.; East Washington, 2822 E. Washington St.; Glendale, 6101 N. Keystone; Southport, 2630 E. Stop 11; Warren, 9701 E. 21st St.

• INDOT reminds candidates and their volunteers to not place campaign signs in the public right-of-way. That includes intersections, interchanges, and right-of-ways that run parallel to highways.
