IRVINGTON — The Irvington Futbol Club (IFC) finished their 2018 Indy City Futbol League (ICFL) in last place, going 2-10-2. However The IFC prevailed at the after-parties balancing out those losses.
The IFC is a coed neighborhood soccer team, compiled of mostly Irvington residents that compete in the ICFL. Each Wednesday through the summer, they play against other Indianapolis urban neighborhood teams at Central Green Fields (formerly Central State) followed by an after-party hosted by a weekly neighborhood sponsor. League standing points are earned through wins/losses, volunteering, ICFL challenges and carpooling.
The IFC was highlighted by Irvington residents Josh Rice captaining the team, while his wife Karen lead the defense. Brian Di Piro and Nick Tate lead the team in goals. Ben Osborne made many tough saves at goalie. Jon Bennett, the neighborhood Englishman, was a major disappointment until the after-party. Steve Messina-Graham and Abe Salinas rounded out the midfield. Chance and Danielle Sommer were Mr. and Mrs. Hustle, and Joe Stuckey kept the bench warm.
The Irvington Futbol Club was sponsored by Black Acre Brewing Co. For more information about the Indy City Futbol league can be found at www.indycityfutbol.com
