“Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” at Beef & Boards

INDIANAPOLIS — Broadway’s lively version of the rip-roaring MGM film Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is now on stage at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre. Get ready for some fun as these brothers get a lesson in “goin’ courtin’” through Oct. 7.
When backwoodsman Adam takes spunky Milly as his young bride in the 1850s Oregon wilderness, his six brothers decide they want wives of their own. To help — and to ensure the success of her own marriage — Milly takes it upon herself to civilize her six rowdy brothers-in-law.
But her plans backfire when the brothers, in their enthusiasm, kidnap six women from a neighboring town to be their brides. Milly must help the women endure the long winter until their fathers arrive in the spring for a mass shotgun wedding of the 12 young lovers.
Great songs fill this Tony Award nominated musical, including “Bless Your Beautiful Hide,” “Goin’ Courtin’” and “Wonderful, Wonderful Day.”
Real-life husband and wife Tony Lawson and Krista Severeid reprise the roles they played in 2009, just before their own wedding. And they’re not the only married couple in the cast — Peter and Sally (Mitchell) Scharbrough, who also performed in the 2009 production, have since married and return to this show as husband and wife. Both couples each have one son.
There are 41 performances of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers through Oct. 7. Tickets range from $44 to $69, and include a Western inspired dinner buffet, fruit & salad bar, unlimited coffee, tea and lemonade.
