Applause!: Sept. 7-13

• Shout out to Tom Walker and his wife Janet, who are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary in September. Tom was the owner of the South Audubon Market many years ago and remembers with great fondness the supportive Irvington community.
• The Irvington Farmer’s Market will be held Sun., Sept. 9 from noon-3 p.m. at Ellenberger Park, 5301 E. St. Clair. Dozens of vendors from the area will be in the park, selling harvest-fresh produce, arts and crafts, and much more.
• The Auxiliary to Community Hospital East will sponsor a Carline Leather Sale on Thurs., Sept. 13 from 8 a.m. to Fri., Sept. 14, 3 p.m. in the Hospital Main Lobby. Items for sale include fashion outerwear, footwear, handbags, accessories and more. Proceeds to benefit hospital programs/services. • Indy Irish Fest will be held Sept. 14-16 at Military Park at White River State Park. This is the 23rd year for the event. Tickets are $10 per day for adults online at www.indyirishfest.com, at the Golden Ace on East Washington, or $15 at the door. Hours are 4:30-11:00 p.m. Fri., 11:30 a.m.-11:00 p.m. Sat., and 10:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Sun. Entertainment includes the Irish Airs, St. Pat’s Day Rogues Pipes and Drums, Alair, and many more musical performers, dance groups specializing in Celtic dance, lots of beer, activities celebrating the Irish tradition, and vendors. • The Friends of Irving Circle final concert for the season will be on Sept. 8 at 8 p.m. at the Circle (South Audubon). This month’s performers will be Lightweights XL. The event is free, and concessions will be available for purchase, with proceeds going to support the maintenance of the Circle.
• Also on Sept. 8 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sept. 9 from 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Garfield Park will host Art in the Park. Admission is $5. It will be a lively couple of days with arts exhibits, kids activities, food booths, and much more.
• There will be a public hearing on the Beech Grove budget for 2019 on Mon., Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Beech Grove City Hall, 802 Main St. Residents are welcome at this public hearing, and information can be found online at the Beech Grove City Web site, www.beechgrove.com
• Arts for Lawrence has teamed with Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra and Naptown Stomp to present First Friday Swing Dance at the Fort Sept. 7 from 8-11 p.m. at the Theatre at the Fort, 8920 Otis Ave. Even non-dancers will enjoy the professional swing music. Admission is $10 or $12 with an hour dance lesson beforehand. Attendance is limited to 200, so order tickets in advance by visiting www.brownpapertickets.com
