INDIANAPOLIS — Mayor Joe Hogsett announced that Sheffield Woods will be the City’s Neighborhood of the Month for February, 2018. The Neighborhood of the Month initiative showcases the unique culture, history, and neighborhood groups that make Indianapolis special.
Sheffield Woods, made up of an estimated 250 homes on Indianapolis’ northeast side, is a community dedicated to the safety and well-being of its neighbors — a dedication exemplified by the Sheffield Woods Neighborhood Association. Formed in 1996, their achievements encapsulate how the efforts of a single neighborhood can make our city a more welcoming and safe place for all. The residents have monitored Grassy Creek Park to ensure it remains a valuable community asset, formed a neighborhood crime watch, and continue to identify and report abandoned homes in the community.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to use the hashtag #IndyNoM when posting on social media about Sheffield Woods during the month of February. To nominate your neighborhood for Neighborhood of the Month visit indy.gov/NoM.
