INDIANAPOLIS – If ever there was a musical that generations of families have come to embrace, it’s the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic The Sound of Music. Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre presents The Sound of Music as the featured family show of its 40th Anniversary Season.
On stage through June 30, The Sound of Music tells the true story of a young woman whose free spirit and love of music leads her down a very different path than she’d planned after she is sent to serve as governess for seven children.
This final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. The motion picture, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, remains the most popular movie musical of all time.
Cara Statham Serber returns to Beef & Boards in the role of Maria Rainer. David Schmittou, plays the dashing Captain Georg von Trapp. Beef & Boards favorites Sarah Hund and Eddie Curry return to reprise their roles of Elsa Schraeder and Max Detweiler, respectively, while Suzanne Stark returns to play the Mother Abbess. Local young performers have been cast in the roles of the von Trapp children.
Tickets range from $37.50 to $62.50 and include Chef Odell Ward’s family-friendly dinner buffet, fruit & salad bar, and select beverages. As Beef & Boards’ featured family show, The Sound of Music offers $10 discounts off tickets for all children ages 3-15. Discounts are also available for groups of 20 or more. Parking is free.
