INDIANAPOLIS — The year is 1888, Pres. Harrison, the First Family and some of the household staff will be home for the holidays. They will share Christmas traditions, chatter about their upcoming move to D.C., and Pres. Harrison may bring up his idea to put a tree in the White House (he was the first president to do so). The entire family is invited to join them in their celebrations. Everyone is invited to their celebration Dec. 2 from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Admission is free for members, $10 adults and $5 students (ages 5-12).
A Candlelight Evening on Delaware Street is a long-standing tradition, featuring the historic architecture on Delaware St. The history of the homes will be shared, and afterwards an elegant dinner at the University Club, of which President Harrison was a member, will be served to guests. Tickets may still be available for the Dec. 7 event that runs from 5:30-9:00 p.m. The cost is $75 for presidential site members, $80 for non-members.
The Harrison mansion will be decorated for Christmas and will be open for tours from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. See the home of the First Family in its holiday splendor and discover past Christmas traditions.
Meet some of Dickens’ most famous characters, as well as figures from folklore and tradition at a unique theater experience at the historic home on Dec. 15, 16, and 17. Written by local playwright, James Trofatter, ‘Twas the Night Before is a heartwarming holiday event. Guests can sip hot cider, enjoy holiday treats all while making memories. Performances begin every half hour and last approximately 60 minutes. Admission is $14.95 for members and students ages 6-12, $17.95 for adults, and kids under 3 are free
