Riley Home Streetscape to be Dedicated May 3

GREENFIELD — Mr. James Whitcomb Riley, Riley Boyhood Home and Museum staff, and state and local dignitaries will be on hand for a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially recognize the brand new streetscape design in front of the James Whitcomb Riley Boyhood Home and Museum on Friday, May 3 at noon.  The James Whitcomb Riley Boyhood Home, located at 250 West Main Street, Greenfield recently went through a major street and landscape redesign in front of the Home and Museum buildings.  This included the addition of two period appropriate street lights, new sidewalks, benches, flower basins, and the planting of two European Hawthorn trees. A brand new Riley Home and Museum informational sign will be installed as well as a beautifully fully restored Indiana Historical Bureau State Marker. The marker will be unveiled and rededicated at the time of this event. Snickerdoodle cookies, Mr. Riley’s favorite, and lemonade punch will be served.
This project was funded through County Economic Development Income Tax Money (CEDIT) that was appropriated by the Greenfield City Council for work along the street in the downtown area. Several City of Greenfield departments were involved in the installation of this new design.
