From The Indianapolis Star, Sunday, October 1, 1916: Beginning tomorrow and continuing for the next two weeks the people of Indiana will celebrate the Hoosier statehood centennial. Indianapolis will host the great occasion which will be an immense reunion of all Hoosiers from around the state and beyond. Dramatic and professional pageants, parades, music festivals and an exposition of Hoosier relics covering the first century of the state will be among the outstanding features of the jubilee. Civic demonstrations have marked celebrations in practically every Indiana county, and the next two weeks in the Circle City will be the culmination of almost a year of festivals. Former President William H. Taft will come for the county processional pageant on October 6 and President Woodrow Wilson will come on October 12 to review an enormous motor parade.
