• The Irvington Halloween Festival was recently endorsed by the Indiana Bicentennial Commission as an official legacy event. Congratulations to the festival, which will be held Oct. 22-29 throughout Irvington.
• Franciscan St. Francis Cancer Center, in coordination with the Indiana Blood Center and Be The Match Registry, is holding a drive to enlist potential bone marrow donors on Thurs., July 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Franciscan St. Francis Health-Indianapolis in the Terrace Café. It will continue and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Cancer Center lobby. The hospital at 8111 S. Emerson Ave. To be considered for the registry, donors must be between the ages of 18 and 44, meet certain health guidelines and committed to donate to any patient in need of a marrow transplant. • The New Palestine Lions Club will host Wine, Brew & Bar-B-Que Too on July 15 beginning at 6 p.m. with an all-you can eat buffet for $15 at the door and July 16 beginning at noon at the Community Center, 5242 W. US 52. There will be cooking demos, lots of food, live music, sampling ($5), a selection of craft beers and wine tastings. There will be free parking and shuttle from the New Pal High School. • Save the Date: The Irvington Historical Society’s annual Ice Cream Social is expanding in a great way. The family-friendly event on Aug. 7 from noon-3 p.m. at the Bona Thompson Center, 5350 University Ave. will feature more food and more fun! You can buy tickets to purchase lunch from Rock-Cola, as well as Wyliepalooza Ice Cream and Simply Divine Cupcakes. White River Jazz Band will play, and Mike Heimel will lead an auction of great items. All proceeds benefit the Historical Society.
