Applause!: Dec. 11-18

• The Historic Irvington Community Council will hold a public meeting on Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. at Irvington Presbyterian Church, 55 Johnson Ave. The new owners of the building at 118-130 S. Audubon will present information about their plans to create a new dining destination in Irvington. The new owners are the owners of The Mug, a farm-to-table restaurant in Greenfield.
• UIndy will present ‘Christmas Celebration’ concerts Dec. 11 and 13, featuring traditional tunes and a few surprises from the  University of Indianapolis Department of Music. UIndy’s choral, instrumental and handbell ensembles will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Sunday in the elegant Ruth Lilly Performance Hall of the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center, 1400 E. Hanna Ave. UIndy’s Women’s Chorus and Schola chamber vocal ensemble also will perform, and the evening will close with a holiday sing-along. • Beginning Jan. 16, the Indy Winter Farmer’s Market will move to the Circle City Industrial Complex, 1125 E. Brookside Ave. The market runs on Saturdays from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.. • The pedestrian bridge at Bolton over Pleasant Run, which has been closed for a long time, is being replaced! The project is expected to be completed by mid-June of next year.
• The Avondale Meadows YMCA will host a Winter Celebration Dec. 21 from 6-8 p.m. to teach families about healthy habits that they can practice at home. During the event families will be provided with health and educational resources, a chance to sample various fruits and vegetables, a two-week membership to the Avondale Meadows YMCA along with prizes and a present for each child that attends (while supplies last). • The annual Christmas Qarol Cabaret with Tiffanie Bridges and Ben Asaykwee will be held Dec. 11 & 12 at 8 p.m. at The Irvington Lodge, 5515 E. Washington St. This a family-friendly show with music, comedy, and lots of Christmas cheer. Then, Prozack, the Sad Elf provides a whole different side of the holidays at 10 p.m. (not for kids under 13). Get tickets online at qartistry.org or call 800-838-3006.
• The holiday spirit shines brightly on the east side in many different ways. The Irvington Luminaria will be on Dec. 20 from 6-10 p.m. Get your supllies from the Antique Mall of Irvington (5501 E. Washington St.), Black Sheep Gifts (5626 E. Washington St.), Coal Yard Coffee (5547 Bonna Ave.), Central Ace Hardware (1025 N. Arlington Ave.), or Deering Cleaners (1160 N. Arlington).
