TinselTown on 10 East Promises Delights for All Ages

The East 10th Street Civic Association is excited to kick off this year’s holiday season with Tinsel Town on 10 East on Friday, December 11th from 6 to 9 and Saturday, December 12th from 11 to 3.
This annual event is a fun and festive event that supports the neighborhood’s Business District along East 10th Street between Jefferson Avenue and Lasalle Street. Festivities include a performance of The Nutcracker by young ballet students, selecting the perfect tree at the Tinsel Town Tree Lot, enjoying live music throughout the event, and posing with Santa for that perfect holiday photo; all while shopping locally in favorite boutiques and enjoying a delicious meal at favorite lunch spots.
At Clifford Corners, Urban Box, 3125 E. 10th Street, Suite I, from 6 – 9 p.m., there will be Santa-Steve-smaller-DSCN5106a Wreath Silent Auction, live music, vendors, food trucks, and the Tinsel Town Christmas Tree Sale. At 6:30 p.m. Santa will arrive via fire truck and will be greeted by the Brookside Elementary School Choir for caroling and community sing-along. Stay until 9 p.m. for pictures with the Jolly One ($5 per print). The Brookside Dance Academy will also be performing The Nutcracker that  evening across the street at Brookside School 54.
On Dec. 12th from 11-3 p.m. Santa will be available at Little  Green Bean Boutique for photos (a $5 suggested donation will  be accepted to benefit the East 10th Street Civic Association), the Tick Tock Lounge will be hosting Wine & Canvas mini sessions for adults from  11-3 p.m., tickets for Wine & Canvas $20 each.
The East 10th Street Corridor has had several successes to celebrate this year, including being named a federal Promise Zone. New businesses have moved into the area, Khaos Company Theatre has opened their doors and a new stage, there are new murals, and a thriving arts community is beginning to take shape. The Rivoli Theatre is in the process of being renovated, and there is a renewed interest in renovating residential housing in the area.
