INDIANAPOLIS — DC Blox, a developer of data centers in Atlanta, Chattanooga, Myrtle Beach and a number of other locations across the south and southeast, has requested a use variance from the Metropolitan Development Commission (MDC) for the proposed Thunderbird Data Center in Indianapolis. Located at the former Ford Visteon site on English Ave., the company is planning to build on one parcel, with a one-story and two two-story data centers consisting of about 410,000 square feet in total. It would be built in two phases — 24 months in Phase 1for the one-story building and Phase 2 for the two-story buildings to be completed in four years.
Because the site is already zoned correctly for this use, if the variance is approved by the MDC, there will not be an opportunity for objections and calling for a hearing of the full City-County Council. The first public hearing on the use variance for the proposed data center at 6900 English Ave. is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 14 at the City-County Building, 200 E. Washington St. During the hearing, there will be opportunity for community members to voice their opinion on the proposed development.
