INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting on Monday, August 18, for the planned Rural Street and Massachusetts Avenue intersection improvement project in Indianapolis.
The meeting will take place at the Edna Martin Christian Center (2605 E. 25th Street, Indianapolis, IN) and will provide an opportunity for the public to interact with the project team, ask questions, and receive the latest updates on the project. Doors will open for an open house at 5:30 p.m., followed by a presentation at 6 p.m.
A virtual, live-stream option will also be available starting at 6 p.m. on August 18 via Microsoft Teams for those who are unable to attend in-person. The meeting live stream will be accessible at rebrand.ly/RuralAndMassPIM. Registration is required to attend. Project materials, including a recording of the presentation, will also be shared on the INDOT website following the meeting at on.in.gov/ruralandmassave
The project aims to improve safety and reduce crash severity at the intersection. Proposed improvements include the realignment of Rural St. between I-70 and Massachusetts Ave., by constructing a new crossing over the CSX railroad and raising the grades of Rural St. and Massachusetts Ave. south of the crossing. The project also includes plans for updating traffic signals and their timings, replacing curb ramps, and adding inlets.
