INDIANAPOLIS — NEAR is bringing back their Caulk of the Town event on Friday, October 17. Caulk of the Town is a one-day, resident-focused home weatherization event with a history dating back to the 1980s originally led by NEAR’s predecessor organization. The event allows residents and volunteers to care for other neighbors, neighborhoods, and housing. For the first time since 2019, Caulk of the Town is returning and will focus on serving residents in the Rivoli Park neighborhood which is east of Rural, south of 10th Street, west of Sherman Dr. and north of Michigan St. Residents in this area will receive a post card via mail in late July with instructions on how to benefit from available services and can also visit their Web site to indicate their interest. Services are aimed at increasing home efficiency and ultimately saving residents money on their utility bills by helping with weatherization projects, such as caulking and weatherstripping. Light seasonal maintenance may also be provided. Residents that have larger home repair needs may be able to get connected to additional programs and services that would be offered through other partners on a later date.
To ensure this event will be successful, NEAR is seeking sponsors, individual and corporate volunteer teams, as well as in-kind donations. If you are interested in being involved, please visit their Web site to learn more and sign up at www.nearindy.org/caulk-of-the-town-2025
