Demonstrators March on Capitol Building Feb. 5

INDIANAPOLIS — Roughly 200 Hoosiers braved chilly rain at the Indiana Statehouse on Wednesday, Feb. 5, chanting as they circled the building for nearly five hours to protest recent actions taken by President Donald Trump and top advisor Elon Musk. The protest was peaceful.
Many of the demonstrators carried signs telling officials to protect immigrant Hoosiers, preserve LGBTQ+ rights, and to protest against executive branch over-reach, including Musk’s “DOGE” teams infiltrating computer systems in several departments. They also protested against state initiatives that would limit early voting, efforts to expand charter schools to the detriment of public schools, cuts to social programs, and anti-DEI (diversity/equity/inclusion) legislation.
The protests were organized online, and occurred in all 50 states at state capitols. Organized online at #50501 (50 protests in 50 states on one day), information was spread through social media and word of mouth.
