• Safe Park Indy is working on opening another parking facility for individuals living in their cars due to a big waitlist. Plans call for another to open in January next year on the north side. If you would like to donate to this initiative (the only one in Indiana), please visit safeparkindy.org. If you know of someone who could use the service, please help them get in touch with the organization.
• Just a friendly reminder that the Weekly View is a drop off point for gifts for Gaia Works’ collection for the kids and adults at Coburn Place, a shelter for domestic abuse survivors. We’re located at 195 N. Shortridge Rd., Suite D (at the end of the building). New toys, scarves, hats, mittens, candy canes, stocking stuffers — they would be much appreciated! We’re here Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and Wed. from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Other collection points are at the Magick Candle, 6125 E. Washington St. and Si Greene’s at Emerson and E. 10th.
• Did you know you can report a crime online to IMPD? If you have an active e-mail account, and if you want to report vandalism (under $2,500), shoplifting, lost property, and a few other crimes, visit indy.gov/activity/impd-community-online-reporting
• The sand for the Luminaria in Irvington is now available at Ellenberger Park, 5301 E. St. Clair. Get your candles and bags, and participate in this beautiful celebration on Sunday, Dec. 22 from 6-10 p.m. There will be caroling by Harmony Collected Community Choir at the Irving Circle as well as a couple of “special guests” that the kids might enjoy.
• Only four performances remain of Buck Creek Players’ show Christmas Cabaret. Georgeanna Teipen stars in the intimate cabaret featuring seasonal music. Shows are on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2:30 and 7:30, and a few seats available on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, and $18 for seniors and students. • On First Friday, Indiana Landmarks will be open from 6-9 p.m. The show will feature Alexander Toms, with a photography and found object exhibit. They are located at 1201 Central Ave. and the building itself is worth a visit — the restoration of the Grand Hall is breathtaking.
• Ice skating at Gainbridge Fieldhouse rink is open to the public now through Jan. 26, 2025. Admission to open skate is from $11, and you need to reserve a time and date online at gainbridgefieldhouse.com./events. The also offer skating classes and ice boccee.
• Garfield Park Conservatory has its annual holiday display, and on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 11 a.m., the Garfield Park Winter Arts Market will open, with vendors with unique handcrafts, food and drink from Parkside Public House. Admission is free. The show will be in the Garfield Park Arts Center, 2432 Conservatory Dr.
