Applause!: Nov. 15-21

• Ken MacNamara will be the guest speaker at the November meeting of the Perry Township/Southport Historical Society.  Ken is a Navy veteran who has some stories to tell about Wilbur and Orville Wright and their Indiana connections. They will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the Perry Township Education Center, 6548 Orinoco Ave. Enter through the center doors at the northwest corner of the building. • The Nutcracker Suite will be performed Nov. 23 and 24 at the Arts for Lawrence Theatre, 8920 Otis Ave. This is the 10th performance of the Nutcracker and features young dancers aged 5 to 17, showcasing their talent and passion. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for students, seniors and military. Purchase tickets online at artsforlawrence.org/tickets.
• IndyEast Promise Neighborhood Youth Advisory Board Presents Saturday Story Fest on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10-11:30 a.m. Go and listen to exciting stories, take part in fun activities, and explore lots of different books. Parents and caregivers are welcome as well. The Fest will be held at the Spades Park Library Branch, 1801 Nowland Ave.
• Speaking of children’s books, if you live in the 46201 or 46203 zip codes and have a child under the age of 5, you can sign up at www.hoosiersread.org/register to receive free books from the Imagination Library for your child until they turn 5.
• There will be a free community dinner in the Little Flower Cafeteria (Door 6) on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. To reserve a spot, call Cindy Woods at 317-408-6396. There will be door prizes and a chance to meet your neighbors.
• The Hancock County Children’s Choir has been asked to sing at Carnegie Hall in spring 2026. It will be their second performance in the Big Apple. The trip is for choir members from 4th-12th graders, and includes a sight-seeing trip in New York City.
• George Thomas Florist is offering a Thanksgiving Floral Workshop on Friday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. You can design your own Thanksgiving arrangement in a cornucopia basket. The cost is $50, and you must make a reservation due to limited space on Eventbrite. George Thomas is located at 5609 E. Washington St.
• The City of Lawrence is offering a free Thanksgiving meal to seniors and veterans on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Lawrence Community Center, 5301 N. Franklin Rd. Seats are limited, and you must register by going to the City of Lawrence Web site at cityoflawrence.org
• The Westminster Maternal Health and Wellness Fair will be held on Monday, Nov. 18 from 9 a.m.-noon at their headquarters, 2325 E. New York St. There will be discussions about maternal health, wellness screenings, and more.
